Why Use Breathable Insulation?

With many old properties, insulation and condensation can be a big contributing factor of mold, our breathable insulation is the perfect solution for insulating old houses and even new builds. Our lime wall insulation is very unique, as it allows the insulation to flex from slight building movement and only takes 4cm of space. Our insulation can be applied to the interior or exterior wall by hand or machined sprayed.

Having a breathable insulated building will consume less energy; whilst retaining heat, which will save you on heating costs, after all heating accounts for at least 75% of the energy use of the average household.

Benefits

Breathability

Due to their open pore structure Otterbein breathable insulation are vapour permeable. They are able to absorb excess humidity and release it when the humidity level falls, creating a more pleasant consistent room climate.

Saving on Energy Costs

Our breathable Insulation helps significantly in keeping heat from escaping a building in winter month and reguulating the flow of heat into the building during the summer. our breathable insulation will be warmer in winter and cooler in summer, creating a more comfortable environment all year round.

Mould repellant

Because of the high pH level, lime insulation act as a mould repellent. This is a benefit in areas where sealed windows prevent movement of air.

Flexibility

Otterbein breathable insulation allow for slight movement in the substrate, reducing the possibility of cracks appearing.

Environmentally friendly

The manufacture of lime produces less carbon dioxide than the manufacture of conventional building products. Lime also absorbs carbon dioxide when curing.

Pre-mixed

Being pre-mixed from the factory removes the possibility of errors in ratio or choice of aggregate during site mixing.

Internal Insulation
Lime Insulating Plaster
breathable insulation internal

Otterbein lime insulation plaster is a breathable hydraulic lime insulation, which can be applied directly onto the interior by hand or machine sprayed. The insulation is premixed, so you will only need to add is water. The insulation is usually built up in layers, which will require a drying period before another layer can then be applied.

Lime Bonding & Reinforcing Mortar

Lime bonding and reinforcing mortar can be used to adhere insulating boards internally and as a base coat onto boards with reinforcing mesh embedded. It can also be used prepare a substrate for the application of insulating plaster.

Fine Lime Plaster

Calcea fine lime plaster is a finishing plaster can be used in restoration work and new builds. Calcea lime paint can be applied to the finish coat to complement the breathable plaster.

External Insulation

This versatile base coat will adhere to difficult substrates such as concrete, fibre boards and substrates with no suction. It can be used internally and externally.

Lime Insulating Render

Otterbein lime insulation render is a breathable hydraulic lime insulation, which can be applied directly onto the exterior by hand or machine sprayed. The insulation is premixed, so you will only need to add is water. The insulation is usually built up in layers, which will require a drying period before another layer can then be applied.

Lime Priming Plaster

The Otterbein priming plaster is a base coat which can be used over a variety of substrates from block work, masonry or stone backgrounds. The base coat can be used internally and externally and is 100% free from cement, perfect for conservation and restoration of old listed buildings and new builds.
